About the Role Rochdale Additional Needs Service is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, skilled and specialist teaching assistant TA4 (Permanent 32.5 hours Term Time only - Grade 6) to start on 3 rd September 2025. This post is based at Matthew Moss Hearing Impaired Resourced Base. At Matthew Moss Hearing Impaired Resourced Base (HIRB), we aim to meet the needs of each and every student and are looking for a passionate and committed teaching assistant with skills and recent experience in teaching children & young people with special educational needs/ hearing impairment in a secondary school. If you have a passion for learning and you are you committed to achieving high outcomes for hearing impaired children & young people, then we would you like you to work within an innovative team committed to raising the achievement of students. You should have recent substantial experience of working with children & young people with special educational needs and supporting school staff to plan and develop effective inclusion, as well as promoting independence of children & young people with a hearing impairment or SEN. About you The successful applicant will be appointed to the Team for Children & young people with a Hearing Impairment, within Rochdale Additional Needs Service, the Local Authority s central support service for children & young people with special educational needs and will be based at Matthew Moss High School. Candidates should have a qualification in Maths and English (GCSE Grade C or above or equivalent), Teaching Assistant NVQ Level 3 or equivalent and a qualification in sign language (CACDP stage 1 or OCSL level 1 or higher). A desire to learn new skills and a positive 'can do' attitude is vital. You will need to have a flexible approach to meeting individual children & young people s needs and be willing to adopt alternative strategies to ensure positive outcomes for all our children & young people. As part of the selection process you will be asked to present a 10 minute presentation on What are the barriers to learning for deaf C&YP and what strategies would you use to remove them?
