Nurse Practitioner (NP) - (NHS Band 7 Equivalent)

As a Nurse Practitioner you will need to have a current NMC registration and a good knowledge of the most up-to-date clinical practices.

As a Nurse Practitioner you will be responsible for:
* Providing comprehensive care to lead a team of nurses and carers
* Conducting training/workshops for the team and Therapy team
* Pre-assessing potential residents and organizing the “Discharge Back in The Community” process
* Organizing MDT diary meetings (monthly, three monthly, six monthly or as required)
* Advising residents on illness prevention and lifetime choices
* Providing training to residents and relatives
* Leading a team of care staff to deliver exceptional care
* Producing well-developed care plans and detailed risk assessments, with an understanding of regulatory frameworks
* Maintaining accurate documentation and resident records while incorporating the use of modern technology
* Overseeing all aspects of medicine management on your shift in accordance with company policies and current legislation
* Making timely decisions and taking action as necessary
* Utilizing your clinical skills to provide guidance and support to all team members
* Supporting, guiding, teaching and mentoring others in line with the NMC Code, following its guidance at all times
To succeed you will be:
* A Registered Nurse with the ability to lead a team of care staff
* Passionate about delivering great care and supporting the residents and their families

* Possessing a sense of humour and positive outlook
* Able to communicate effectively at all levels
* Demonstrating awareness and understanding of the CI/CQQ/RQIA National Care Standards
* Understanding and applying relevant legislation in relation to the role
* Able to deliver nursing care in a clinical environment

You’ll find Gilmerton Care Home has a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere, situated in Edinburgh. The home is a short drive away from the city centre and nearby to public transport.
This purpose-built care home provides nursing and social care for younger adults with a brain injury or other neurological conditions. They have been registered with Headway Organisation since December 2018. The care that they provide includes 'Slow Stream Rehabilitation' with a specialist team supporting this element of their service.
