Job Description
The key responsibilities of the Cost Accountant include:
1. Tracking and analysing production costs, including materials, labour, and overheads.
2. Assisting in preparing cost budgets and financial forecasts.
3. Comparing actual costs to budgeted costs and investigating discrepancies.
4. Assessing stock levels and ensuring accurate valuation of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
5. Calculating the cost of manufacturing products to determine pricing and profitability.
6. Identifying cost-saving opportunities and improving operational efficiency.
7. Preparing cost reports for management to support decision-making.
8. Ensuring adherence to cost accounting standards and financial regulations.
The Successful Applicant
The successful Cost Accountant will have:
1. Experience in a manufacturing environment.
2. Excellent communication skills, linking products to cost saving.
3. Suitably qualified by experience.
4. Strong knowledge of cost control, budgeting, and variance analysis.
5. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
6. Good understanding of stock valuation, standard costing, and financial reporting.
7. Ability to interpret and present financial data to management.
8. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
