We are looking for a registered children's nurse who is motivated, forward thinking and has a sound professional knowledge and excellent communication skills. You should have the ability to prioritize and work both independently and as part of a team.
In this post you will provide highly skilled, quality clinical and non-clinical care, which is outcome focused, to support children and their families, enabling them to live, participate and achieve in all aspects of life, e.g. at home and within their community. The workload is varied and interesting with opportunity to develop further knowledge and skills.
The post holder will assess, plan, implement a high standard of care to children and young people from birth to 18 years with complex health care needs.
The team is based across North Cumbria and work Monday- Friday office hours. Out of hours work may be required to support children and young people at end of life.

Person Specification
* Ability to build working relationships with children, young people, their families and other professionals
* Wide range of clinical skills (including nasogastric tubes, colostomy, enemas, Ace procedures)
* Ability to motivate.
* Ability to use play as a form of communication/assessment tool
* Teaching skills
* Basic IT skills.
* Able to drive - full current driving licence
* Self motivation
* Self awareness
Experience
* Proven experience of nursing children in an acute setting
* In depth experience in a particular field e.g. continence
* Clear understanding of the impact of illness - especially chronic conditions - on the child/young person and their family.
* Experience of multidisciplinary and multiagency working.
* Evidence of ability to participate in the clinical governance agenda and improve standards
* Work with children/young people with learning disability
Qualifications
* Registered Children's Nurse
* Proven experience of nursing children in an acute setting
* Relevant degree (e.g. BSc Community Specialist Practitioner - children or equivalent) Or Proven experience of working in the community with children with a demonstrable equivalent theoretical knowledge base.
* Teaching qualification
* Specialist course
Knowledge
* Knowledge of relevant current legislation - e.g. Data protection, Child Protection, Consent.
* Knowledge of a wide range of children's illness and their treatments and in depth knowledge in a particular field.
* Knowledge of relevant support groups, benefits and other means of financial support for families.
* Knowledge of multidisciplinary and multiagency working.
* Evidence of recent and continuing professional development

* Able to travel across whole of Cumbria
* Able to work between hours of 8am and 10pm
