Job Overview:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time (6 PAs) Speciality Doctor in Perinatal Mental Health Inpatient Unit. The post holder will be a core member of the new Mother and Baby Unit, Seren Lodge.
The successful applicant will work alongside the Consultant for Seren Lodge Mother and Baby Unit but also have good links to the Specialist Community Perinatal Mental Health Service.
This post is to work on a new Mother and Baby Unit, a specialist provision for women with mental health problems during pregnancy and/or in the year after their baby is born.
Main duties of the job:
* The post holder will be directly involved with the assessment, diagnoses and management of pregnant and post-natal women who are inpatients on the Mother and Baby Unit.
* Utilise a flexible approach to delivery of clinical care so that it best meets the needs of mother and infant.
* Support colleagues in other specialist mental health services and within primary care.
* Contribute to the education and training of staff from a variety of disciplines.
* Contribute to the development of the service and be actively involved in the critical evaluation of its effectiveness.
* Be readily available during the working week for communication and consultation.
* Ensure that management plans are clearly displayed in the medical records.
* Act as an Approved Clinician for the purposes of the Mental Health Act 1983.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential Criteria:
* MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
* Minimum 4 years experience in post graduate training, at least two in a specialty training programme in general adult acute psychiatry.
Eligibility Essential criteria:
* Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
* Approved under S12 OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
