General Practitioner Abersychan Group Practice
Abersychan Group Practice serves approximately 10,600 patients and has provided general medical services in the area for over 40 years.
A minimum of 6 sessions, Wednesday to Friday, but willing to discuss more sessions if suitable.
The practice is situated in Abersychan, on the A4043 between Pontypool and Blaenavon, and within easy reach of Newport and the M4 motorway.
Currently, there are six GP partners supported by one salaried GP, one GP retainer, one ANP, four practice nurses, one HCA, two phlebotomists, plus a team of receptionists and administrators.
The practice participates in a wide range of national and local enhanced services and is a GP trainee practice with two GPs in training along with a medical student.
Main Duties of the Job
Undertaking a variety of duties, including:
1. Surgery consultations
2. Telephone consultations and queries
3. Visiting patients at home
4. Checking and signing repeat prescriptions
5. Dealing with queries, paperwork, and correspondence in a timely fashion
Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems, screening patients for disease risk factors, and early signs of illness.
Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols.
Prescribing in accordance with locally/nationally agreed guidelines.
About Us
We are excited to be advertising for a new salaried GP position at our fantastic training practice currently with four GP trainers, supporting two GP registrars, in Abersychan near Pontypool. We have two purpose-built buildings. Mentorship is offered to newly qualified GPs.
The successful candidate would be joining a very friendly, happy, and enthusiastic team, providing care to approximately 10,600 patients in the North Torfaen cluster.
We are a previous winner of the RCGP Welsh Practice of the Year and are a stable, supportive, well-managed, and organized practice. We are extremely fair and equitable to each other in terms of workload.
The practice uses EMIS Web and has a digital dictation service with Lexacom.

Qualifications
* Fully qualified GP with GMC registration
* Annual appraisal and revalidation when appropriate
* General practice Vocational Training Scheme trained
* On a PCT medical performers list
* Enhanced CRB check
* UK driving license
* Current CPR certificate
* UK work permit, if required
* Medical indemnity cover
* Evidence of continued professional development
* MRCGP
* Experience of teaching undergraduate students
* Palliative care experience
