Position: Senior & Principal Design Engineers
Location: Bristol or Exeter with hybrid working available
Rate Guide: £60-75k (Neg DOE) plus car allowance and excellent benefits package
Our Client: Is an integrated design and build provider working in the water sector. With over 1,000 staff working across eight regional centres, supporting six long-term water sector frameworks and two recently won frameworks, operating both as a sole contractor but also in joint ventures and alliances.
The Role: Our client is looking to strengthen their Engineering team with a Senior and Principal Design Engineers of all disciplines - Civil, EICA, Mechanical and Process. Based in the Southwest region at either Bristol or Exeter, you will report directly to the Principal Engineer or Regional Discipline Lead. Your role will be to provide superior quality Engineering Design services to allow the company to minimise risks and maximise profits on turnkey and engineering services contracts. You will co-ordinate the design and produce design documents and drawings taking due account of health and safety requirements, specifications and standards pertaining to the contract.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Produce design layouts which are cost effective, meet the requirements of the specification and which can be constructed and commissioned effectively.
2. Ensure that standard practices are utilised wherever possible.
3. Maintain competitiveness.
4. Provide estimates and feedback for Proposals department.
5. Work to procedures and processes to ensure the continuing development of the department.
6. Assist in developing procedures and processes.
7. Monitor and review the procedures and processes.
8. Write, update and monitor efficient procedures to aid the smooth running of the department.
9. Ensure co-ordination of designs with all other disciplines internal and external to ensure that the design processes carried out on the contract are co-ordinated for the benefit of the contract as a whole.
10. Maintain files and records throughout the duration of contracts.
11. Assure customer satisfaction.
12. Work within a culture where satisfying the customer is recognised as the key to achieving other objectives.
13. Assist in supervising and developing staff.
14. Assist in ensuring a safe working environment for all staff.
15. Ensure designs take account of environmental issues.
16. Ensure that design takes full regard of all health and safety requirements.
Experience:
1. Experience in technical delivery of complex water industry engineering projects.
2. Understand the principles of water and sewage treatment.
3. Have experience of managing/mentoring members of staff in designing relevant discipline aspects of water and sewage treatment plants.
4. Membership of a professional institution chartered or nearing chartership.
5. Relevant discipline Engineering qualification.
6. Ability to rationalise designs and produce economic plant layouts.
7. Good general knowledge of all aspects of water treatment, such as electrical engineering, process engineering, civil engineering and project management.
8. A flexible mind, with the ability to assimilate large amounts of different data at one time.
9. Ability to present technical proposals clearly, confidently and convincingly.
10. Computer literacy.
11. Driving license.
12. Experience of working on design and construct projects using digital design.
