This is an exciting opportunity for you to join the team at The Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence (CFI) to work on project in collaboration with Accenture entitled 'Aligning assessment of cognitive abilities in cutting edge AI and those required in human employees'. The main objective of the project is to establish a pathway of translation between cognitively meaningful evaluations of AI capabilities the cognitive requirements of specific tasks and roles within the workforce, helping us to understand which roles really are in danger of becoming automated with the increasing sophistication of AI, and where AI may be of use to augment human endeavours. The work will draw from multiple disciplines, but primarily from computer science, psycholinguistics and animal and developmental psychology. The appointment will be for 12 months in the first instance and is based in Cambridge. CFI is a highly interdisciplinary research centre addressing the challenges and opportunities posed by artificial intelligence (AI), in both the short and long term. CFI is based at the University of Cambridge, with partners in Imperial College London, and UC Berkeley, and close links with industry and policymakers. More information is available at: https://www.lcfi.ac.uk/ The Research Assistant's main duties will be in facilitating and running the evaluation of a range of AI systems on the cognitive test batteries that have been created, assisting in the creation of new batteries and in analysing and interpreting the results of these evaluations. Applicants should have a degree in a relevant field (e.g. computer science), completed, or very near completion, and should provide strong evidence of potential for research and publication at the highest level. Applicants should have a strong interest in engagement with the cognitive sciences. You will work alongside a postdoctoral researcher as part of a larger interdisciplinary team (particularly those in the RECOG-AI project and Animal AI projects ( http://lcfi.ac.uk/projects/kinds-of-intelligence/recog-ai/;https://www.lcfi.ac.uk/research/project/animalaiolympics ) and should be able to work well with others of divergent expertise. We are looking for candidates with experience in at least one of these fields.
