We are excited to offer an opportunity for a dedicated and experienced Midwife to join our maternity team as a Pre-Term Midwife. This role is pivotal in supporting the care and delivery of preterm infants, working alongside our obstetric and neonatal teams to provide exceptional care to both mothers and babies.
As a Pre-Term Midwife, you will be responsible for managing and providing high-quality care for women with preterm pregnancies, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for both the mothers and their babies. Your role will also involve close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver patient-centered care, focusing on the unique needs of preterm optimisation.
Main Duties of the Job
* Provide care and manage the Pre-term antenatal clinic (Amber clinic).
* Collaborate closely with obstetricians, paediatricians, and nursing staff.
* Provide emotional and psychological support to families during a challenging time.
* Educate and advise expectant mothers about preterm birth risks and preventive measures.
* Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the development of best practices.

Person Specification

Qualifications
* Registered Midwife - with valid NMC registration.
* ENB 997/998 or other equivalent teaching qualification.
* Mentorship and preceptorship training.
* Trained in venipuncture.
* Evidence of ongoing professional development.
* Fulfilment of all mandatory training.
* Educated to degree level.
* Equal opportunities training.
Knowledge and Awareness
* Knowledge of the psychological impact of preterm birth on families and experience in providing appropriate emotional support.
* Knowledge of research and audit.
* Knowledge of change management.
* Knowledge of health and safety.
Experience
* Significant post-registration experience in obstetrics, particularly in high-risk maternity or preterm birth management.
* Experience in an outpatient setting or managing antenatal care for women at risk of preterm birth is highly desirable.
* Knowledge of national guidelines and best practices for managing preterm birth, including the use of interventions such as progesterone and cervical cerclage.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide clear advice and emotional support to women and families.
* Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage a caseload of high-risk women.
* Experience in a leadership or clinical teaching role.
