We have the following vacancies available to recruit to for porter vacancies:
* 35 hours - Receipts & Distributions porter - Monday to Friday 11 am to 6 pm
* 37.5 hours - A&E porter - 5 over 7 - 2 pm to 10 pm and 6 am to 2 pm
* 37.5 hours - Pool porter - 5 over 7 - various shifts to include 6 am to 2 pm, 8 am to 4 pm, 2 pm to 10 pm, 9 am to 5 pm, and 12 midday to 8 pm
Porters move people and items around a hospital site. Porters based at Leighton Hospital work in a dual role. This means that you will be expected to support the Hotel Porters, Waste Porters, Linen Services, and Receipts & Distribution.
A Hospital Porter Should:
* Have good communication skills.

* Act calmly and quickly in emergencies.

* Deal sensitively with patients and visitors who are anxious, distressed, or very unwell.
* Have a flexible attitude to work.
You would be:
* Using special handling techniques to move expensive, specialist medical equipment from one part of the hospital to another.
* Transporting medical supplies, such as oxygen cylinders, and collecting and returning them when they are empty.
* Collecting blood samples and medical specimens from wards, clinics, and theatres, and taking them to laboratories.
* Transporting general clinical waste and hazardous materials.
* Removing patients' bodies from wards and operating theatres and taking them to the mortuary.
* Bringing clean sheets and other items to the wards and removing dirty linen.
* Delivering patients' meals to wards and removing used crockery and cutlery.
* Delivering post to different departments of the hospital.
* Delivering supplies to wards and departments.
You will be a part of the portering services team within the estates department and will have contact with clinical and non-clinical staff. You could work with nurses, operating department practitioners, healthcare assistants, housekeepers, security staff, or catering staff.
