About the job An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate Scientist to join our team on a permanent basis in our Research and Development Department. The Associate Scientist will conduct R&D activities on internal and external Solid Form and Particle Engineering (SFPE) projects working largely independently, with minimal direction. They are responsible for delivering experimental output and projects with a high degree of scientific integrity. Project deliverables are on time and on target, to a high quality with limited support from project leaders and technical leads. The Associate Scientist is responsible for maintaining multiple analytical equipment, training junior members of the team as appropriate in accordance with best practice. Additionally, the Associate Scientist will support junior members of the team in lab-based learning for SFPE analysis, screening techniques and processes. This role is largely working independently, proactively meeting their assigned project milestones. They may also be supporting an initiative or specialising in a key technical area, providing guidance and support to other team members in a specified area. Demonstrating an understanding of SFPE for developing active pharmaceutical ingredients using a range of analytical, solid form and particle engineering techniques. Demonstrating customer focus and good customer communication via all media. Responsible for writing high quality reports and delivering presentations to customers and management under supervision in a timely manner, that aligns with project timelines. Having oversight for a key piece(s) of equipment, service or common area; carrying out maintenance and training in accordance with the company’s regulatory procedures. Seeks continuous improvement of Equipment/area responsible for. Demonstrating an ability to multi-task on a range of different activities differentiating between urgency and importance. Consistently demonstrating the competencies associated with this role. Carrying any other duties which are within the employee’s skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed. Special Factors Travel overseas, as well as in the UK, is sometimes necessary for attending conferences and seminars Regularly works with potent/highly potent APIs What you need for the role To succeed in this role you will have; Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a chemistry related discipline or pharmaceutical science required. Postgraduate qualification (typically PhD) (or significant industrial experience) in a chemistry related discipline or pharmaceutical science preferred. Previous experience in solid form, particle engineering or related areas. Basic scientific knowledge or awareness of (and be willing to develop further) analytical science.
