NSPCC Job Description JOB TITLE: VOLUNTEER CO-ORDINATOR FUNCTION: Young Witness Service CLOSING DATE: 28th of April 2025 Volunteer Coordinator Job Purpose Within Young Witness Supports overall aim of ensuring that children have access to justice, the particular purpose of this post is to promote and implement the positive involvement of volunteers with YWS including the coordination of recruitment, training, development and retention of volunteer supporters. Responsible to:Partnerships Services Manager Key Relationships: The post holder will have contact on a day to day basis with all staff and volunteers working within the YWS, with colleagues from across the NSPCC who are involved with volunteering within the organisation, and on a regular basis with other volunteer agencies. Main Duties To develop a continuous programme of volunteer recruitment, including the co-ordination of information meetings, role descriptions, interviews and selection In conjunction with the relevant Managers and staff, support the review and delivery of training programmes as appropriate. To keep an overview of volunteer needs with a view to maintaining commitment and retention and increasing productivity. To take responsibility for coordinating the required volunteer support in all contests and trials and ensure vetting procedures are followed and maintained for YWS volunteers To organise volunteer training, conferences and ongoing recognition, training and social events. To liaise with external volunteer agencies, for example, local Volunteer Centres, REACH, Doit etc. To update and maintain NSPCC Volunteer data management and communication systems. To analyse volunteer information and records and make recommendations as to the most effective ways of working to maximise volunteer involvement and commitment. To make presentations on the work of YWS with emphasis specifically on volunteer roles, both internally within YWS and to external organisations or groups. In consultation with the management team to identify and develop other appropriate roles for volunteers in YWS. To provide relevant training and support for staff on volunteer issues. General duties: Maintain confidentiality at all times and ensure respect for observance of and adherence to YWS's strict confidentiality policy by all staff. To ensure service delivery is in line with the agencys diversity strategy and equal opportunity practices. Contribute to the development of the volunteer strategy in the NSPCC as directed by the Partnerships Services Manager. Responsibilities for all YWS Staff: To maintain an awareness of own and others health and safety and comply with NSPCCs Health and Safety procedures To comply with NSPCC Diversity and Equality policies and practices To comply with all relevant NSPCC safeguarding policies To maintain and develop competence in the use of IT systems Any other duties required by the Line Manager commensurate with the grade and nature of the post. The post holder will be required to be flexible. PERSON SPECIFICATION YWS VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR 1. Educated to a standard that reflects the ability to research ideas, think analytically and articulate recommendations with clarity 2. Proven evidence of ability to demonstrate the recruitment, selection, training and support of volunteers, which should have included young people and the ability to identify and develop a variety of volunteer roles. 3. Demonstrate effective communication and negotiation skills with young people and adults at all levels, both inside and outside the agency, by telephone, in writing and in person. 4. Demonstrate diplomacy and the ability to understand different points of view while operating within organisational priorities, policies and procedures. 5. Evidence of working in an inclusive and anti-oppressive framework. 6. Evidence of working with confidential information and material appropriately within an office setting. 7. Ability to demonstrate prioritising, planning and organising tasks and activities effectively in order to meet deadlines and conflicting priorities, maintaining accurate records and systems in an accessible and consistent way 8. Ability to use a range of IT systems and programs (e.g. client database, email, Word, and Excel) to enable the post holder to fulfill their duties effectively. 9. Commitment to working flexibly as a member of a team to ensure effective service Delivery, ability to work under pressure in a changing/dynamic environment and using own initiative. 10.
