Overview of the Hygiene Supervisor:
Everest People Solutions is recruiting for an experienced Hygiene Supervisor on behalf of a leading food manufacturer. This key role will support the Hygiene Manager in ensuring that hygiene operations within the night hygiene department meet the highest standards of food safety and quality. The successful candidate will be responsible for the training and development of the hygiene team, ensuring a "right-first-time" approach is consistently achieved.
Key Responsibilities of the Hygiene Supervisor:
* Allocate tasks to hygiene team members to meet site requirements efficiently and effectively.
* Provide daily guidance and advice on best practices and procedures to the hygiene team.
* Audit cleaning standards to uphold microbiological quality across the site.
* Ensure all food and non-food contact surfaces and equipment are cleaned to the highest standards.
* Complete and update documentation such as Daily/Weekly Task Sheets and training records.
* Deliver chemical and SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) training to new starters.
* Support the Hygiene Manager in achieving KPIs and department targets, deputising in their absence.
* Monitor agency hours and communicate daily requirements to relevant departments.
* Oversee health and safety practices, including the use of PPE, accident investigations, and reporting hazards or near misses.
* Ensure adherence to cleaning instructions and report any engineering issues.
* Conduct chemical concentration checks and monitor chemical and consumables stock levels.
* Maintain schedules, ensure hygiene records are completed accurately, and provide feedback to relevant departments.
* Train operatives on specific cleaning tasks and duties.
* Investigate accidents and food safety incidents, ensuring compliance during audits.
Essential Skills of the Hygiene Supervisor:
* Strong understanding of health and safety practices.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Numerate and able to work to tight deadlines.
* A proactive, confident team player with a positive attitude.
* Hands-on approach to cleaning and factory cleanliness with a keen attention to detail.
* Experience in FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) environments.
