This is an opportunity to join our small team for a period of maternity cover, based in south Cumbria, close to J36 of the M6 motorway, in the planning and organising of training courses in dry stone walling. Traditional skills still have an important role to play in the management of our countryside and the DSWA has been offering accredited qualifications in the craft for many years.
The person providing the cover will have responsibility for administering Training Courses and our Craft Certification Scheme, which is run in conjunction with Lantra Awards, offering qualifications to people across the country as well as overseas.
We are seeking someone with prior experience in an administrative role, who is confident in using a range of Microsoft 365 software packages and who is also comfortable using social media to promote our work. You will be able to interact with a wide range of people and have a flexible approach. The ability to work under your own initiative is important.
The post is part-time at 22.5 hours per week, flexibility can be discussed at interview. There is scope for the post to be home based but regular contact time in the office would be expected. Some travel will be required and there will be occasional weekend working.
We would expect the successful applicant to begin in early April 2025 for some training and be able to cover 39 weeks maternity leave from the beginning of May plus possible annual leave accruals of the current post holder. A firm end date will be agreed which will coincide with the current postholder's return from maternity leave.
We can offer a salary based on the Government's National Minimum Wage.
Applications should be made in writing to training@dswa.org.uk.
