Job Description:
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Lincoln to assist with the appointment of a Payroll Officer, on a 6-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £13.02 - £15.93 per hour
Responsibilities:
1. Process Payroll data including but not limited to variable deductions and payments, new starters, changes and leavers, Salary Sacrifice Schemes, mileage and overtime claims to meet monthly deadlines and issue monthly payslips.
2. Process Payroll data according to statutory requirements to meet monthly/yearly deadlines.
3. Ensure that accurate staff records are maintained, and the payroll system is updated to reflect changes in personal data that affect pay calculations, for example, sickness and maternity leave and annual increments.
4. Maintain accurate records and prepare written communications to the customer and other agencies to obtain information and in response to enquiries.
5. Ensure that the data held is sufficient and in a format that meets the legislative requirements for reporting and annual returns for HMRC, National Insurance and the LGPS.
Qualifications:
1. 2-3 years experience of working in a Payroll Team.
2. Detailed understanding of payroll and pensions legislation, statutory payments and deductions.
3. Detailed understanding of payroll processes.
4. Knowledge of local government and teachers pay and conditions.
5. Experienced administrator with an ability to interpret and implement payroll legislation.
6. Demonstrable experience of working as an effective and positive contributor to a team.
7. Demonstrable experience of dealing with a variety of customers.
8. Experience of using Microsoft Windows and Office software.
9. Demonstrable experience of working to tight deadlines within a performance driven office.
