At University Hospitals Sussex we are looking for a Laundry Maintenance Supervisor.
Working closely with the Workshop Manager and Head of Estates in relation to management of the Trust’s Laundry services, the post holder will be responsible for all aspects of Laundry services on the St Richards site, including (but not limited to): Building and Engineering services and all laundry maintenance, Statutory and mandatory requirements, Engineering development and Estates led projects.
You will deal with a wide range of challenges and solve problems using your engineering skills to directly improve patient care and outcomes, making a real difference in people’s lives.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will manage the day-to-day operations of SRH Laundry and develop these services in accordance with corporate policies and strategies, emphasising the cultural changes and innovations essential to modernising health care. To work directly on large, complex laundry equipment ensuring it is safe and in compliance with statutory and other regulatory requirements.

* Establish and develop effective communications with all key laundry stakeholders, both internal and external
* Ensuring verbal and written complaints are dealt with effectively and that any remedial action is undertaken
* Developing sound stakeholder relationships, through the positive responses to all stakeholder issues raised
* Able to provide and receive highly complex, technical or sensitive information from stakeholders and utilise it as required
* Exchanges maintenance, technical project-related information with specialists, non-specialists.
* Able to negotiate with stakeholders, suppliers and contractors
* Providing expert advice, ensuring that the Estates management can face scrutiny or any challenges by internal/external auditors in terms of Health and Safety, Standards of Service, Compliance with National Standards and other NHS documents relating to the Management of NHS facilities
Analytical and Judgemental
* Auditing, reviewing, proposing and implementing service improvements wherever possible to meet the National Engineering Standards and compliance requirements, ensuring that good performance ratings are achieved
* Monitoring and alerting the direct line managers of any non-compliance with statutory and mandatory regulations and taking the necessary remedial action to address

Experience/ Qualifications
* Post graduate/diploma or equivalent level of knowledge acquired through courses and experience in construction or engineering subject
* Professional Knowledge of a full range of trade procedures acquired through a 4 year accredited training course on required equipment; level 3 vocational qualification or equivalent plus relevant training or equivalent experience, plus additional training and developed skills e.g. pneumatics/hydraulics
* Specialist Knowledge of industrial laundry maintenance
* Qualifications and experience attained in hydraulics, pneumatics, PLC programming and steam generator control systems
Communicaton and Relationship Skills
* Good verbal, written, presentation, report writing and negotiation skills, with the ability to develop, communicate and gain ownership for a clear vision and direction
* Able to communicate technical information to non-technical persons
Skills
* Evidence of having undertaken own development to improve understanding of equalities issues
