Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a Category Manager to support the delivery of an effective and efficient procurement service for all procurement categories within the trust.
The post holder will contribute significantly to the delivery of the procurement function. Applications are sought from across the private and public sector. The successful applicants will bring energy and customer focus to the role. You will be responsible for project managing the tender process, to deliver high quality and timely responses, involving key stakeholders. To understand service delivery requirements, you will support the project sponsors to draw up effective tender specifications, and conduct market analysis from a range of options to support an informed decision for contract award.

Main duties of the job
You will support the delivery of procurements within a portfolio of projects/programmes that delivers high value, improved patient care and cost efficiency savings across the Trust, using e-tendering tools (Atamis) to support procurements and to become an expert within this field.
You will work to ensure that clinicians and managers are engaged throughout, to include demand challenge, appropriate planning and strategy development, evaluation and selection, and ongoing contract management and review.
You will be required to research and draft correspondence and papers, ensuring the management of specific tasks, lead reporting and analysis across a range of specialties, functions and projects.
You will have responsibility for the day-to-day management of the category team and will ensure compliance with procurement legislation and DBTHFT policies and procedures (including mandatory training).
You will support the Deputy Head of Procurement in the delivery of the annual Cost Improvement Plan.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Experience
* The preferred candidate will have proven experience of procurement/category management within a large organisation.
* Leadership and managerial experience.
* Experience of carrying out high value procurements from conception to evaluation and implementation.
* Ability to manage the Category team within the constraints of procurement regulations.
Qualifications/Training
* Strong evidence of working towards MCIPs or an equivalent qualification to MCIPs with the intention of qualifying for MCIPs.
* Proven ability to manage a team effectively, producing year-on-year results.
Personal Attributes & Skills
* Proven ability to operate/think laterally & work on own initiative.
* Expert theoretical knowledge of public sector procurement.
* Experience of complex evaluation and market and economic analysis.
* Ability to motivate and develop staff.
* Ability to plan and organise a broad range of procurement projects.
* Able to formulate long-term programmes of work for the category team.
* Able to prioritise and work within imposed deadlines.
