The Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Technician will support the Repairs & Maintenance Manager in delivering the gas related maintenance and repairs contracts.
The role will suit a candidate who has significant technical experience in undertaking air conditioning & refrigeration maintenance, repairs and installation works in both domestic and commercial premises - particularly within schools, universities, MoD sites, factories, and public sector buildings.
The role requires the ability to lead on jobs, to independently plan and deliver work assigned to the highest quality and within given timeframes, and in accordance with all statutory requirements, company policies and industry good practice.
This role is on the front line for the business and must therefore always represent the company positively and professionally. The role is expected to demonstrate initiative, exceptional time management skills, and the ability to always meet tight deadlines. The job also entails liaising with clients onsite whilst undertaking work; therefore, excellent communication skills are essential for the role.
Responsibilities:
1. Adhere to all Health & Safety regulations and QHSE company policies at all times.
2. Follow Safe Systems of Work, adhering to method statements and mitigating the risks appropriately as set out in the risk assessments.
3. Set out jobs and follow a programme of works using knowledge and experience of undertaking similar works, and working to drawings where relevant.
4. Follow client on-site procedures to gain access to the works to be undertaken.
5. Undertake a dynamic Take 5 risk assessment prior to commencing each job.
6. Perform planned preventative maintenance, responsive diagnostic repairs and installations with minimal supervision on:
* Commercial and domestic extraction systems
* Air Handling Units
* Air conditioning units
* Refrigeration equipment
1. Complete the appropriate maintenance paperwork, reporting anything that is at risk or dangerous to the office/line manager immediately.
2. Perform responsive diagnostic work where relevant with minimal supervision and report on any additional works to be undertaken to the office.
3. Undertake other works undertaken by the repairs and maintenance team where required.
4. Support a customer-focused culture, delivering right first time, taking ownership and accountability for the works undertaken.
5. Use the CRM to complete and submit clear, accurate job cards and any associated certifications/paperwork for each job undertaken on each day.
6. Ensure all client asset information is collected and recorded in the CRM.
7. Ensure that all work carried out is delivered to the highest level of quality in all circumstances.
8. Perform a post-audit job check when leaving site at end of day/work completed, ensuring the site is left clean, tidy, and safe.
9. Minimise waste and adhere to company environmental policies for the safe disposal of hazardous waste.
10. Act in a professional manner at all times whilst on site, following all site procedures and adhering to all standards and codes of conduct as required.
11. Be respectful and positively represent the company.
12. Keep up to date with changes in all relevant company policies and legislation.
13. Undertake additional hours as may be reasonable and necessary for the effective and efficient performance of their duties and responsibilities.
14. Ensure all company assets in your possession are well cared for and maintained.
15. Be a responsible driver at all times.
16. Aid alternative trades in completing work tasks as required.
17. Undertake any training and development deemed necessary by the management team.
18. Any other duties deemed relevant for the role.
Requirements:
1. F-gas and ODS Regs.
2. Completion of a recognized Apprenticeship in a relevant discipline - NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
3. Basic electrical safety (18th Edition).
4. Sound knowledge of Health & Safety and COSHH Legislation and M&E industry regulations.
5. Site Safety or CSCS Health and Safety Scheme or equivalent.
6. Computer literate with skills in Word, Excel, email, internet, etc. and CRM skills.
7. Trustworthy and discreet.
8. Highly organised, with the ability to manage own jobs for the day and across numerous sites.
9. Able to work on own initiative.
10. Good time management skills.
11. Experience of working at a small to medium-sized company.
12. Used to working to tight deadlines.
13. Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
14. A proactive approach to work and problem-solving.
