Job summary We are recruiting, to the role of Advanced Podiatrist in Diabetes and High Risk, for our York & Selby locality. The team consists of 21 Podiatrists supported by 4 Assistants/apprentices and 5 A&C staff. We provide podiatry services into a number of community sites and York District Hospital and The New Selby War Memorial Hospital. We welcome applications from HCPC registered Podiatrists, who are looking for a step up from a band 6 post or a sideways move for existing band 7 into a diabetes & high risk role, in a service with a good reputation for quality provision to our patients and good support for staff and career development. Good diagnostic and clinical skills are essential, as well as good organisational and time management skills are critical to this role. You should have the ability to provide robust leadership and act as a role model. Main duties of the job The post holder will provide clinical care to an advanced level in Diabetes/High Risk to our complex patient caseload across both acute and community settings. The post holder will also actively participate in clincal governance, quality assurance and service development. There will also be an expectation for the successful applicant to provide robust mentorship and support to junior colleages. The role will be supported by the Locality Team Lead and the Senior Leadership Team, consisting of two Principal Podiatrists and the Professional Lead. While previous leadership experience will be an advantage the successful candidate will be supported in developing their leadership skills, both with trust delivered modules and access to various NHS leadership programs. While we are recruiting to a full-time role, part time of 22.5 hours a week or job share would also be considered. This post will be based in White Cross Court but the post holder will be expected to work at other locations, as such car driver or ability to travel is essential. There is also the opportunity for some of the non-clinical role to be undertaken via remote working. About us Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust is a combined acute/community trust providing a range of community services across the North East of England. The Podiatry Service employs 65 Podiatrists and covers the majority of the 3000 square miles of North Yorkshire and York area and is provided from over 40 clinical locations. The service is managed in 4 Locality based teams. In addition, our "one service" model provides seamless care for patients with acute Diabetes and other high-risk complications into the MDFT in our own Hospital and under service level agreement into York, Scarborough, Northallerton and Malton Hospitals. HDFT Podiatry service worked closely with Huddersfield University in developing the Podiatry apprentice programme and currently have 4 apprentices at different stages in their degree. The Podiatry service is proactively increasing its research capacity with current involvement in a number of research projects with academic partners.
