Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)? We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a well-established school in Northumberland on a temporary basis.
The Role:
As a Temporary SEND Teaching Assistant, you will support students with a variety of SEND needs, helping them engage with the curriculum and reach their full potential. You will work closely with teachers and other staff to provide tailored support, fostering an inclusive and positive learning environment for all students.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide one-on-one and small group support for students with SEND, helping them access the curriculum
* Assist with implementing individual learning plans (ILPs) and specific interventions as guided by the class teacher and SENDCo
* Offer support with personal care and other individual needs, as required
* Encourage positive behavior and assist with strategies for managing challenging behaviors
* Monitor student progress and communicate effectively with the teaching team to track development
* Assist in classroom organization, preparing resources, and supporting students during breaktimes and extracurricular activities
* Promote social and emotional well-being, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all students
What We Are Looking For:
* A genuine passion for working with children and supporting students with SEND
* Previous experience in a similar role or working with children (ideally in a SEND setting) is desirable, though not essential
* Patience, empathy, and the ability to build strong relationships with children and staff
* A proactive, flexible approach with excellent communication skills
* Knowledge of SEND needs and best practices is advantageous
* A Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential
* The ability to provide personal care for students if required
