Who we are looking for
A Management Information Systems Team Leader within the Data Distribution and Analytics (DDA) department, who will lead a team of engineers delivering high quality reporting and data extracts to the Business.
The Data Distribution Development teams are fast paced, dynamic and challenging to lead. Our Company data is both complex and vast, which makes the day-to-day work both varied and interesting.
You will manage the team, lead large-scale projects, liaise with other departments and ensure high quality work is delivered. Additionally, you will continuously seek to improve systems and processes to meet the ever-growing and changing demands of the Business and regulatory bodies.
The current technology stack is Microsoft SQL Server and MicroStrategy.
This role is eligible for inclusion in the Company’s hybrid working from home policy.
Preferred Skills, Qualifications and Experience
* Recent commercial database development experience including excellent T-SQL skills, preferably with SQL Server 2012 or later.
* Good understanding of database design concepts and techniques, with the ability to convert complex problems into simple solutions.
* Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
* Highly organised and adaptable, capable of managing multiple substantial work streams simultaneously.
* Adept at prioritisation, delivery and driving efficiency in a high throughput environment.
* Ability to understand technical vernacular and effectively communicate to technical and non-technical staff.
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
* Previous team management experience.
Main Responsibilities
* Ensuring the design, development and delivery of outputs is of the highest quality and delivered in a timely manner.
* Acting as the line manager for a busy team of engineers with varying degrees of experience.
* Prioritising, triaging, assigning and tracking of work streams.
* Maintaining the highest level of governance on all work items.
* Liaising with the Business and management to provide progress updates and escalations.
* Ensuring that requirements from the Business are accurate and complete.
* Ensuring the team’s output meets requirements, whilst adhering to the best architectural and design practices ensuring code is simple, efficient and clean.
* Improving work practices and procedures.
* Appraising, mentoring, coaching and developing the team as best meets their needs.
* Ensuring the quality and integrity of highly optimised databases and aggregations that underpin most of the DDA reporting functions, as well as high profile reporting for the Board, Finance department and regulatory bodies.
