Job Overview
We are inviting applications to join our team of Consultant Haematologists working at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust as a colleague with a special interest in Myeloid Leukaemia, Bone Marrow Failure and Transplantation.

UHL is a JACIE accredited stem cell transplantation centre and has a strong phase 1 & 2 research program, especially in lymphoid malignancy. We are also a commissioned haemoglobinopathy co-ordinating centre, haemophilia comprehensive care centre and TTP treating centre.

Our new strategy, 'Leading in healthcare, trusted in communities' was developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners and is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).
We have four primary goals:
• high-quality care for all,
• being a great place to work,
• partnerships for impact, and
• research and education excellence
And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.
Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:
• we are compassionate,
• we are proud,
• we are inclusive, and
• we are one team
This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
The candidate will join the Red Team, looking after patients with myeloid malignancy, bone marrow failure and transplantation. In-patient work is covered by the Consultant Haematologist of the Week (CHOW) for a week on a rotational basis (currently 1 in 9), as well as the buddy rota to provide support to colleagues from other sub-specialties looking after patients with acute leukaemia and myeloid disorders. Outpatient clinics are disease specific, and would include dedicated clinics in bone marrow failure/acute & chronic myeloid leukaemia and in bone marrow transplantation. Depending on the interests and skills of the appointee, other roles to support the department might include diagnostic laboratory work and liaison haematology.
