Here at St Margaret’s Hospice Care, a rare opportunity has arisen for a registered professional to join our dynamic team as a Lymphoedema Keyworker, managing patients with mild to moderate oedema. This role is based in Taunton and covers locations across the county. Full and part time hours can be considered (up to 37 hours per week) and you will join us on a permanent basis. In return, you will receive a salary of £32,413 per annum (pro rata for part time hours). Our mission is to provide excellent specialist palliative care for patients and support to their families. Our team provides patient-focused care to patients with lymphoedema throughout Somerset, regardless of cause. This includes patients with primary or secondary lymphoedema as well as those with advanced disease. We also work closely with oncology nurse specialists to monitor patients at high risk of developing lymphoedema, providing education and early detection to improve outcome. We provide a wide range of treatments including compression therapy, manual lymphatic drainage, laser therapy, kinesiotaping and exercise groups. What will you be good at? This post would suit either: A Registered Nurse with experience in community nursing, oncology or palliative care or A Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist with an interest in developing their skills in lymphoedema management. As this role involves outreach work within the community, the ability to travel is an essential requirement. Responsibilities as our Lymphoedema Keyworker will include: Providing support, advice and information to patients, their families and carers and other health care professionals on all aspects of lymphoedema, including the promotion of self-management. Using assessment strategies and providing care to patients with primary and secondary lymphoedema, including patients with life-limiting conditions. Assessing physiological and/or psychological functioning of patients with lymphoedema, determining treatment and the need to refer to other members of the multi-disciplinary team. Using your skills and knowledge to ensure the safe and effective use of relevant equipment provided for the assessment, treatment and evaluation of patients.
