Music Instructor - Piping Instructor 0.5FTE (Fixed Term until 17 August 2025) - PKC12232
£35,190 - £46,773 (pro rata)
North Inch Community Campus, Perth
In Partnership with Scottish Schools Piping and Drumming Trust (SSPDT) and Perth and Kinross Council, we are seeking a passionate and skilled Piping Instructor to join our highly dedicated team of instrumental music Instructors.
In this role, you will inspire and develop musicians of all ages and abilities, guiding them in the art of bagpipe playing.
You will teach techniques, nurture a love of music, and help students achieve their personal and group performance goals within Perth Grammar school and the cluster primaries.
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
* Proven experience as a skilled bagpipe player with a track record of performance.
* Previous teaching experience and a degree in music is essential.
* Comprehensive knowledge of bagpipe maintenance and tuning techniques.
* Ability to read and teach music notation specific to bagpipes.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* You must have a valid UK driving licence as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
* Instruction & Development : Provide tailored piping instruction to individuals and groups, covering beginner to advanced levels.
* Technique & Skills Training : Teach proper fingering, breath control, tuning, and maintenance of the bagpipes.
* Music Theory & Repertoire : Introduce students to traditional and contemporary bagpipe music.
* Performance Preparation : Prepare students for competitions, exams, public performances, and parades.
* Equipment Advice : Offer guidance on purchasing, maintaining, and repairing bagpipes and related accessories.
* Administrative Duties : Maintain accurate records of student progress, plan lessons, and liaise with parents/guardians or organisation representatives.
