Our Level 6 Degree Apprenticeships
Our apprenticeships allow you to study for industry-recognised qualifications whilst earning a competitive salary. As an apprentice, you will study with a training provider, such as a university, and combine this experience with real responsibilities in the workplace. Your study pattern could be day or block release, or via distance learning, depending on the course that you enrol on. A dedicated mentor will guide you through your personal and professional development. Level 6 Degree Apprenticeships have a typical duration of 3–6 years, during which you will attain both a professional and academic qualification to further your career. Our apprentices are employed on a permanent basis, so you'll continue to progress with Arup once you've completed your course.
The Opportunity
The Whitehaven Office in West Cumbria is looking to take on an enthusiastic and creative Apprentice Engineer who would like to establish themselves in the Nuclear industry as well as enjoy the diverse project opportunities that ARUP has to offer across the North of the UK.
As a Level 6 Apprentice you will be expected to work with the Engineers to support project work or carry out tasks and/or investigations as applicable to the work that your Task Manager is engaged with. Regular meetings with the Early Careers Cohort and your Mentor will help you navigate the broad range of experience required for you to complete your degree and build your experience portfolio towards Chartership registration.
Minimum Requirements:
1. A-Level grades at Level 7/Grade B or above in Maths, Physics, Chemistry (preferred), or other maths/science related subjects.
2. Typically, a Day Release study pattern will be offered through Bolton University for a duration of 6 years.
3. Being based within travelling distance of Whitehaven is essential, and a keen interest in outdoor activities and exploring the Lake District would be a bonus.
Is this role right for you?
We're looking for apprentices who are curious and ready to evolve how they think and work.
Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas. At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. If you can share your knowledge and ideas and encourage others to do the same; whilst having a desire to deliver excellent services for clients – we'd like to hear from you.
You should be able to start this opportunity no later than September 2025.
Eligibility for apprenticeship funding requires candidates to have the right to work in the UK and continuous residency in the UK since at least September 2022. Candidates holding a visa must ensure it remains valid for the full duration of the apprenticeship, which may extend up to 6 years.
