As part of our continued growth and sustained vision to be a leader in our sector, COMSOL is seeking a full-time Academic Sales Manager to join our Cambridge based team and help drive continued growth of our UK business. The COMSOL Multiphysics software is used by scientists and engineers worldwide, to solve physical problems in their research, design, and development work.
You will be responsible for leading the academic sales team to grow new licence sales from both new and existing accounts for academic institutes and research labs in the UK and Ireland. As well as leading and supporting the academic sales team, you will also manage your own sales region. This challenging role will require you to balance a range of responsibilities including lead qualification, account development, presenting the COMSOL solution, and researching sources for new leads and prospective customers. You will be part of a sales team that is supported by a talented team of technical applications and marketing specialists.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to combine your technical and people skills to help our customers understand how the COMSOL product line can assist academics in their research projects and teaching programs. The challenge of selling to a wide range of academic researcher teams whose research activities cover a wide span of engineering and scientific disciplines will call on your technical curiosity and commercial acumen, as well as your strong listening and communication skills.
Responsibilities
1. Lead the academic team to sell COMSOL’s simulation products and solutions to academic institutions in the UK and Ireland.
2. Generate campaigns and strategies to help expand COMSOL usage at academic institutions and increase new licence sales revenue.
3. Provide support to the academic team to grow key accounts and negotiate large licence agreements.
4. Manage the academic team and develop your own sales territories to meet both team and individual sales quotas.
5. Set and review both individual and team sales quotas, KPIs, and sales best practices on a regular basis.
6. Support team members to ensure both individual and academic team can provide accurate sales forecasts on a weekly basis.
7. Conduct regular team and individual reviews to discuss sales progress, opportunity generations, and individual sales performance.
8. Manage the sales activities of the academic team from lead qualification to closing sales, providing the team members with both pre-sales and post-sales support.
9. Conduct individual annual performance reviews for the academic sales team.
10. Work closely with customers through regular phone calls, web, and face-to-face meetings to establish simulation needs, demonstrate COMSOL's products, and provide solutions to meet customer's requirements.
11. Work closely with the licensing team to provide support on academic subscription sales.
12. Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers to ensure customer satisfaction and retention is maintained at a high standard.
13. Manage existing accounts and grow key accounts.
14. Work closely with marketing and technical teams to identify and develop new business.
15. Proactively generate new leads through regular web workshops, exhibitions and conferences, customer referrals, and cold calling.
16. Work closely with the UK Sales Manager to support and achieve the new licence sales quota and office total sales quota.
17. Provide support to HR on recruiting, training, and coaching new sales staff.
