An exciting opportunity has arisen to apply for the role of a Point of Care Testing (POCT) Coordinator Band 7 at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust within the Biochemistry POCT department at Ipswich Hospital.
ESNEFT hosts a pathology network that provides an excellent laboratory service all year round (24/7) to the patients of the Trust. We have well-equipped modern laboratories and are building solid and stable pathology teams at Colchester and Ipswich Hospitals.
Occasionally you may be required to work at Colchester to cover absence.
Key Responsibilities:
* Responsible as lead for Ipswich POCT
* Manages and coordinates the day-to-day activities of the team
* Leads on service improvement
* Responsible for standard and quality of results
* Provides specialist advice to clinicians
* Provides specialist service e.g. training, advanced troubleshooting, problem solving for specialist requirements
* To work flexibly in reflection of service needs which may include an extended working day and/or participation in delivery of a 24 hour, 7 day per week service
* The work of the service brings staff into constant contact with human body fluids, tissues and hazardous chemicals
* Maintain and promote a professional image of the pathology
