We are looking to appoint an experienced Payroll & Finance Administrator to join our friendly and supportive team. This would suit an experienced Payroll & Finance Administrator who is looking for their next challenge. We require an individual with extensive experience in payroll & finance and are particularly interested in candidates who are interested in working for a special educational school. Our school is now in its second academic year and is growing rapidly. As a result, we now have an additional vacancy for an experienced Payroll & Finance Administrator.
Odyssey House School is an exciting new special school setting, aiming to provide the highest quality education to neurodiverse students. The school caters for a range of special education needs, primarily high-functioning autism, anxiety, and emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA). All students will be able to follow a differentiated National Curriculum, with the aim of achieving a range of recognised qualifications at Key Stage 4 and 5 including Entry Level, Functional Skills, and GCSEs and other Level 2 qualifications.

The school’s premises have been designed specifically to meet the needs of neurodiverse children as well as providing an amazing work environment, where staff will benefit from excellent facilities of the highest quality, allowing exceptional education to be delivered to students.

Key Responsibilities
* Assist with the processing of payroll for all staff on a monthly basis and prepare variance lists for the Business Director for approval of monthly salaries.
* Support the finance functions across the schools with purchase orders, accounts payable queries, and lettings invoices.
* Provide financial administrative support to the schools under the instruction of senior staff.
* Be an active part of the school team assisting in all aspects of the schools’ finance functions.
* Be a key point of contact for all finance queries.

The successful candidate will have to meet the requirements of the person specification and will be subject to the relevant pre-employment checks which will, where applicable, include a health check, an enhanced DBS check, the Children’s Barred List check, and satisfactory references.

Minimum Requirements
* Experience in an administrative environment.
* Proficiency in the use of MS Office, especially Word and Excel.
* Previous experience of working in payroll.
* Able to interpret statistical data.
* Experience of working on a tight deadline.
* Good knowledge and understanding of payroll principles.
* Knowledge of budgets and internal management accounting systems.
* Experience working in a school environment or other educational setting.
* Experience of producing payroll-related management information.
* Ability to investigate reconciling items and to formulate and implement corrective action.
* Knowledge of charity accounting and reporting regulations.
