Principal Ecologist needed in Hereford Paying £54.19 per hr ref OR3977 Full time hours on a temporary basis Role Overview: We are looking for an experienced Ecologist to handle complex bespoke calculations supported by detailed and non-standard data submissions. You will work on complex and detailed discussions and negotiations at a senior level with Natural England, applicants, and specialist contractors. This role requires the creation of bespoke legal agreements to provide the required certainty for the Habitat Regulations Assessment (HRA) process. Key Responsibilities: Nutrient Neutrality: Manage change of use of land/buildings (especially farm-related) to generate Nutrient Neutrality (NN), including calculations around changing surface water flows and sustainable drainage systems. Develop offsite nutrient neutrality solutions. Approve, legally secure, and manage third-party phosphate credit schemes. Handle intensive agricultural developments such as AD Plants, waste to heat/energy, poultry and livestock units, and polytunnels. Oversee major residential applications not utilizing a standard foul water and sustainable drainage scheme. Develop other alternative NN schemes such as fertiliser production. Other HRA: Address air emission and deposition from agricultural developments and incineration. Mitigate significant recreational effects. Manage other significant water or air pollution issues, such as wastewater treatment works upgrades and integrated constructed wetlands. Draft, proof, and publish updated guidance and FAQs.
