Procurement Manager Business Unit: Commercial Reporting to: Head of Commercial Location: Enfield, United Kingdom Direct Reports: Buyer x 2 Senior Logistics Administrator Logistics Administrators x 2 Job Scope Develop and execute global sourcing strategies for all aspects of procurement, applying strategic and agile thinking to complex issues while managing internal and external relationships. Work cross-functionally in a matrix organization to fully exploit opportunities across the wider group. Lead and manage a purchasing team, leveraging data-driven insights to optimize spend and maximize value. Oversee the development and introduction of new products, ensuring appropriate supplier involvement and the application of commercial due diligence. Provide effective leadership for the logistics team, ensuring that all imports and exports meet business needs and compliance requirements. Participate in the development of contract bids. Define and apply company-defined procedural and ethical controls within both the logistics and procurement functions. Job Functions Determine robust sourcing strategies for existing and new products or services in accordance with Life Cycle Management principles. Develop effective commercial partnerships with key strategic suppliers to influence the successful achievement and execution of current and future programs. Ensure all imports and exports comply with relevant legislation and company procedures, while adapting to future legislative changes. Drive continuous performance improvement in all areas of supply chain performance, including logistics. Lead and manage the team, establishing departmental and personal objectives for team members. Manage procurement processes for competitive tendering, including supplier selection, pre-qualification, tender evaluation, and contract award in accordance with applicable procurement plans, procedures, and governance. Ensure the procurement function is suitably represented and involved in the development and introduction of new products. Oversee the procurement of an assigned group of commodities. Travel within the UK and overseas is required and considered a regular feature of this role, with requests potentially made at short notice. Perform any other tasks associated with this role. Requirements Experience in a purchasing or commercial role at an executive management level, with evidence of implementing large and complex product/service contracts with appropriate contractual agreements. Demonstrated experience and understanding of MRP, kanban, contract law, risk management, negotiation, and working within a change-culture organization. Proven experience in leading, developing, and working within teams. Excellent communication skills, with a proven track record of presenting at the director level. A proactive “can-do” attitude toward solving problems and implementing innovative change management. Possesses drive, initiative, and flair to anticipate and take appropriate actions to maximize profit and free cash flow in all aspects of the business. Qualifications HNC / Degree or equivalent in a technical or business-related subject. Senior CIPS membership preferred.
