Vision for Education are thrilled to be working in partnership with a fantastic Special School who are currently seeking a dedicated and adaptable Teaching Assistant to join their team on a part-time, ad-hoc basis.
With sites in Plymouth and Cornwall, this is a large academy looking for people to cover last minute day shifts. The hours are 8:30am to 3:30pm. For successful candidates, there would be an app to enter the days you are free for work so shifts can be allocated to you. They are a forward-thinking, well-renowned special school with exceptional facilities and superb travel links. Their supportive leadership team (SLT) is committed to fostering a nurturing environment that aids both staff and student development.
Key Responsibilities of your role:
1. Provide tailored support to a diverse group of students with special educational needs (SEN), assisting in their academic and social development.
2. Work flexibly around your existing work/life commitments, offering support when needed at the school.
3. Collaborate with teachers to plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to the various learning styles and abilities of students.
4. Promote a safe and positive learning environment, addressing any behavioural or emotional issues with sensitivity and expertise.
5. Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students.
6. Monitor and track the progress of students, providing feedback to teachers and parents where appropriate.
7. Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and contribute effectively to the team.
8. Foster independence in students while providing the necessary support to empower them to achieve their individual goals.
Requirements:
1. Experience working with children or young people; previous experience in an SEN setting is preferred but not mandatory.
2. An understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEN and a passion for helping them to succeed.
3. Proactive, engaging, and compassionate in approach, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Ability to work flexibly, responding to the varying needs of the school and students.
5. Enhanced DBS check, or willingness to undergo one.
