About the role of Estimator
Fawkes and Reece are currently working with a civil engineering client in the South-East that works with local authorities and private clients, who are seeking an Estimator. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute towards small to large scale projects that includes S50, S106, commercial drainage and earth moving.
Key Responsibilities for an Estimator
Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil construction projects, including materials, labour, and equipment.
Source, evaluate, and negotiate with subcontractors to secure competitive pricing.
Review project specifications, drawings, and documents to determine accurate costings.
Collaborate with project managers and other team members to develop and refine budgets.
Analyse market rates, trends, and conditions to ensure competitive estimates.
Track and manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines for tender submissions.
Provide value engineering solutions to optimise project costs without compromising quality.
Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
Key Requirements for an Estimator
Proven experience as an Estimator, tendering on civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
Strong knowledge of subcontractor sourcing, pricing, and negotiation processes.
Excellent understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
Exceptional numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
