Hours: 40 hrs per week, Monday to Friday. You will be required to be part of the on-call maintenance rota, paid at the overtime rate. About the role As Maintenance Assistant, you’ll play a key role in taking care of our beautiful and inspiring school site in Standlake, as well as other Mulberry Bush locations. Supporting our Maintenance Manager, you’ll not only be carrying out a range of maintenance tasks, but you’ll be creating a safe, clean, comfortable home for the children to learn, grow and thrive in. Join us and be part of an extraordinary story. We’ll look to you to Complete planned and reactive maintenance across Mulberry Bush locations. Maintain the charity’s vehicles, along with other equipment and machinery. Help with grounds maintenance such as cutting/strimming grass, pruning hedges, fence repairs, etc. Maintain a clean and organised working environment in line with health and safety regulations. Coordinate with sub-contractors to make sure all work is carried out safely and meets the required regulations. Keep track of statutory and legislative maintenance records. Work with the Maintenance Manager to schedule and complete tasks efficiently and with minimal disruption. Let the Maintenance Manager know of any safety hazards. Take part in the maintenance team on-call rota. Make sure the safeguarding and protection of the children is always a top priority, completing every task following our Charity’s policies and procedures. About you As a proactive and reliable person, you’ll be responsible for taking care of the Mulberry Bush school, but most importantly, making sure our residential homes and educational facilities are safe and comfortable for the children. Your attention to detail will be key, and you’ll work closely with the Maintenance Manager to make sure the site is the perfect environment for the children to flourish and shape their futures. Skills and experience Part of a close-knit team, you’ll be someone who’s able to work well with others while keeping a professional attitude. It’s vital you already have some experience in maintenance work and be comfortable using a variety of tools. Time spent working in a school setting would be a bonus, but it’s not essential. A full driving licence is a must, and you’ll need to be organised and manage your time well; the sort of person who can keep things on track, while always sticking to health and safety guidelines.
