Join our Power, Transmission & Distribution team as a Senior Procurement Manager and you’ll be part of it!
The Senior Procurement Manager will be responsible for leading and managing the procurement activities for high-value and strategic projects within the energy sector.
The role involves developing and implementing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring cost-effective sourcing of goods, services, and materials required across multiple large infrastructure projects in Scotland.
What you'll be doing
As a Senior Procurement Manager you will have the following responsibilities:
Strategic Procurement Planning:
* Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with business objectives, focusing on efficiencies, cost reduction, and risk mitigation.
* Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and internal policies
Supplier Relationship Management
* Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers
* Monitor supplier performance to ensure adherence to contractual terms, quality standards, and procurement schedules.
* Conduct regular supplier evaluations and risk assessments to ensure continued alignment with business needs and objectives.
Contract Management and Compliance
* Support contract negotiations with our commercial and legal team to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
* Ensure that procurement processes comply with the relevant health, safety, and sustainability standards as well as group objectives
Project Management and Collaboration
* Act as a liaison between internal stakeholders and suppliers, addressing project requirements, and managing procurement/delivery schedules.
* Support project risk management, providing procurement expertise and insights into potential supply chain disruptions.
Leadership and Team Development
* Manage, mentor, and develop procurement staff, fostering a high-performance culture and encouraging professional growth.
* Be the main point of contact for the Power T&D Procurement team in Scotland attending regular Senior Leadership Meetings
* Support the Head of Procurement to develop and deliver key strategies across the Power Procurement Function
* Work closely with other Business Units Procurement teams to adopt a professional and collaborative working approach
* Adopt and drive positive behaviours across the Scotland and England & Wales procurement team to ensure a consistent and collaborative approach to working
Risk Management
* Assess and manage procurement risks, implementing mitigation strategies to address supply chain disruptions, price volatility, and other potential issues.
Who we're looking for
The following skills and experience are required:
* Be a team player with key leadership skills and proven stakeholder management
* Adopt an appropriate style of people management that will deliver objectives while considering the skills, personalities and needs of employees.
* Previous project experience within a Utilities or Construction related environment, working with both materials suppliers and subcontractors.
* Supply Chain Management experience
* Hold the relevant NEC subcontract and commercial process knowledge
* Possess excellent analytical and communication skills with a proven track record in negotiation
* Willingness to travel within Scotland and across the UK for supplier visits and project/team meetings
* Relevant business degree, MCIPS (or studying towards) or equivalent experience is desired
