An exciting opportunity to work as part of a growing End User Experience UK department supporting multiple high-profile clients as part of the Capgemini portfolio. The role of an Active Directory (AD) Engineer is a technical position that requires the individual to possess a proficient understanding of a wide range of enterprise applications software and technologies, as well as business objectives and processes. Our AD Engineers work hard on the technical leadership and delivery of new or enhanced services that align with our carefully thought-out strategic roadmap, applying their knowledge and experience to achieve a variety of daily tasks. These tasks involve AD related applications such as Domain Name System (DNS), Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) and associated, such as Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), which include both on-premises and Entra responsibilities.
This role is fully onsite 5 days a week in Salisbury.
Your role
The main responsibilities and tasks that our AD Engineers are expected to work on include:
* Supporting the BAU Engineers on complex automation and user submitted tickets, including troubleshooting, data analysis and reporting of application and infrastructure environments that may assist other teams with incident and problem.
* Evaluation of new software or processes that may lead to new or enhanced services.
* Develop and implement PowerShell scripts to automate a wide variety of server/infrastructure tasks, strengthening departmental audit capabilities.
* Configure Domain Services, with strong focus on Domain Controller maintenance and configuration, including monitoring and troubleshooting. Providing hands on Production, Pre-Production and Development support and maintenance of Active Directory Infrastructures.
* DNS – managing, name resolution, troubleshooting, zone creation, recovery.
* Utilised and supporting Single Sign On capabilities/process via Active Directory Federation Services.
* Manage Group Policy Objects (GPOs) throughout the AD enterprise.
Your skills and experience
* High level understanding of Azure AD Tenant, Power Shell and Application Programming Interface (API) management.
* Strong problem-solving capabilities, benefitting from previously being involved in or performing AD Disaster Recovery, and the ability to effectively employ available resources and best practices (i.e. automation of manual procedures) where applicable.
* Familiarity with delegated access to AD and of applying the principle of least privilege to users and admins is a must, along with being familiar with standard and bespoke methods for Role Based Access Control.
* Experienced in Windows administration, at a minimum, for toolset installs, maintenance activities, and troubleshooting. Further to this, experience of Group Policy Management, along with Administration of DNS, WINS and DHCP, is desired.
* Involved in migration and synchronisation of on-premises AD objects to Entra or created proposals for such.
* Excellent communication skills as well as technical personnel, utilising these skills to maximise customer satisfaction.
Your security clearance
To be successfully appointed to this role, it is a requirement to obtain Security Check (DV) clearance. To obtain DV clearance, the successful applicant must have resided continuously within the United Kingdom for the last 5 years, along with other criteria and requirements.
