Reporting into our Group Accounting Manager, the Finance Assistant will work within the Reporting team, responsible for delivery of key financial information to internal and external stakeholders.
Role responsibilities:
* Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
* Processing of monthly journals onto general ledger system
* Undertake reporting to external parties, including Office of National Statistics & Finance & Leasing association.
* Undertake payroll preparation under the guidance of the Group Accounting Manager
* Preparation of monthly VAT returns
* Lead effective financial control environment within the wider business with a specific focus on data governance.
* Lead first line of defence routines to test the effectiveness of the control environment.
Key skills required:
* Graduate/similar, probably aiming to work towards accounting qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
* Understanding and practical experience of accounting principles.
* Experience of operating strong financial controls
* Good Microsoft Excel skills - able to undertake lookups and pivot tables as a minimum.
* High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
* Ability to work to tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure.
* Keen to develop accounting skills and to introduce process improvements to assist efficiency.
