The Role:
As a Safe City Environmental Health Officer, you will join a highly experienced team, where you will get opportunities to develop your environmental health skills while challenging yourself. The team’s aim is to ensure that every resident, business, and visitor of Westminster thrives in a clean, safe, and quiet city.
Responsibilities include:
1. Developing, implementing, and enforcing environmental health policies and legislation.
2. Carrying out routine or unplanned inspections to ensure compliance with legislation.
3. Resolving issues and risks highlighted in a time-effective manner.
4. Taking enforcement action and preparing evidence for court when necessary.
5. Promoting integration of environmental health principles across the Council and its partners.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you must hold a Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health or relevant qualifications. Ideally, you will have regulatory experience in food safety, food standards, and health & safety. You will be registered with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH).
Key skills include:
1. Great oral and written communication skills.
2. Experience in managing cases and gathering evidence for legal action.
3. Strong analytical skills and decision-making ability.
4. Proficiency in IT, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite.
