Posting Text: Northern State University seeks a Coordinator for International Recruitment.
The International Admissions Counselor is responsible for planning and conducting outreach activities related to the recruitment, admission, and orientation of international students at Northern State University.
1. Serves as the PDSO (Principal Designated School Official) responsible for full compliance with all aspects of the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) including the tracking and maintaining of student records within SEVIS requiring specialized knowledge for the understanding and application of federal regulations and academic policies and procedures.
2. Keeps international students and the institution in good standing with the United States Government.
3. Manages immigration casework portfolio, and advises international students, staff, faculty, and program participants on program content, policies, procedures, and activities while interpreting and applying rules and regulations specific to the program’s operation.
4. Advises international students on employment, health insurance, academics, and SEVIS status. Issues I-20 forms of eligibility for the F1 Student Visa, prepares university participation in educational fairs, develops international marketing plan and associated materials.
5. Conducts university outreach activities to international students through differing venues in person and virtually.
6. Develops external partnerships and participates in international recruiting fairs in person or virtually.
The individual in this position will be required to travel nationally and internationally. He/She must possess excellent communication, organizational and presentation skills and must be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Required Education and Experience:
* A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with one (1) year of work professional experience.
* Experience as a Designated School Official (DSO) with a working knowledge of Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) procedures and legal requirements of international students and hosting institutions.
* Experience interpreting and applying federal immigration laws and regulations.
* Experience exercising discretion and independent judgment in making informed decisions in complex situations.
* Experience working with complex organizational processes and procedures.
* Demonstrated aptitude for learning, interpreting, and disseminating highly technical information, regulations, and procedures.
* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Demonstrated strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills.
* Experience working with international students and diverse populations within an intercultural context.
* Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver professional presentations.
