Southern Water are building teams ensuring delivery of water to our customers across southern England.
We are recruiting a Junior Security Analyst to join our cyber team and be part of the team securing our systems and networks within Southern Water’s vast infrastructure.
As Junior Security Analyst, you will be responsible is to respond to security related incidents, protect SWS assets from cyber-attacks and monitor, hunt and defend threats, under the leadership of the SecOps Lead.
Responsibilities to include:
1. Responds to incidents and requests assigned to the Security Operations within SLAs
2. Supports the development and running of reporting for compliance and digital teams as well as performance reporting for the security operations team.
3. Carries out analysis and testing for the purposes of identifying vulnerabilities, misconfigurations or other exposures, and the validation of user policies.
4. Monitors, audits and reports on compliance to SWS security standards highlighting compliance breaches or potential risks.
5. Monitor and action requests and queries to the Information Security.
6. Assists in planning, management and execution of vulnerability and risk assessment projects
7. Provides advice and practical assistance on information security risk and control throughout the organisation. Promotes security awareness to all staff.
8. Documents formal, technical incident reports for consumption by digital teams and senior leadership
9. Vulnerability management reporting ensuring patching policies and process in place and that these are applied in a regular and controlled manner.
10. Provides digital teams with incident support, including mitigating actions to contain activity and advisory for remedial actions.
11. Researches and tracks information about current security threats and potential vulnerabilities.
12. Participates in ongoing quality assurance activities during the development and implementation stages of the IT security initiatives.
13. Support of threat assessment and vulnerability management across complex business structures, including the deployment, administration and management of network-based vulnerability scanners.
14. On call support as part of a managed rota
Knowledge & experience needed:
15. Degree in computer science, information security, cybersecurity or a related field or equivalent
16. Experience in IT and Security technologies
17. Experience in report writing, investigational techniques in an operational environment
18. Understanding of Regulatory requirements
19. Toolsets and skills – vulnerability and risk analysis, ability to use security tools.
20. Maintenance and management of security systems/devices.
21. Effective problem-solving, critical thinking and troubleshooting skills
22. Ability to clearly communicate actionable insights and complex findings
23. Exceptional attention to detail
24. Ability to work effectively within a team
25. Positive problem-solving ‘can-do’ attitude
26. Exceptional decision-making capabilities
