CK Group arerecruiting for a Specialist Chemotherapy Nurse to join apharmaceutical and life sciences company. This role will workhand-in-hand with assigned hospitals and centres, deliveringholistic care in the comfort of the patient’shome.

This is a field based role covering the Colchester, Southend-on-Seaand Chelmsford area
As aChemotherapy Nurse, youwill:
* Undertakea clinical assessment of patient’sneeds.
* Conduct training interaction(s) toensure patient and/or carer are able to safely self-medicaterelevant oncology medications e.g. oral tablets. This will includemaking patient aware of service, how to administer medication, howto store, highlighting side effects and what to do or who tocontact should they arise.
* Provideon-going support to patients through the combination of supportprogrammes to include telephone, clinic-based and home visits asper product and client protocols.
* Assesspatients’ home environment to ensure it is suitable for home IVoncology treatment including ensuring the environment is safe andsecure, has working means of communication e.g. telephone and willbe a safe environment for nurses towork.
* Complete line care for all IV oncologypatients, ensuring lines are clean andclear.
* Change dressings and provide advice oncaring for lines to patients and caregivers.
* Administer all IV Oncology medicationsfor all patients undergoing IV cancertreatment.
* Check blood results and madedecisions on whether critical levels are within safe parameters tocontinue with treatment. Liaise with referring consultants on anyconcerns around treatment or if patient is too unwell to receivemedication.
* Complete blood transfusions withpatients or arrange suitably qualified nurse to visit patient todelivertransfusions.
YourSkills andKnowledge:
* RGNpart 1 NMC Register.
* Chemotherapy deliveryqualification.
* Experience in administeringoncology medication, either in hospital or communityenvironment.
* Experience of undertaking clinicalassessments and administering sub-cutaneousinjections.
* Experience in the care of IVdevices and administration of IVtherapies.
* Clinical skills required includeclinical assessment, administering I.V. injections, administeringchemotherapy, cannulation and phlebotomyskills.
* Strong understanding of therapiesrelevant to service offering, including NHS knowledge relating tothe management of patients with treatedconditions.
