Job Summary At Caterpillar’s Peterlee, UK facility, we design, manufacture, assemble, and test Articulated Dump Trucks. In this role as a Quality Manager, you will report to the Senior Quality Manager and will be primarily responsible for analyzing customer requirements, defining specifications for products and services, and developing quality control processes to review and ensure compliance with quality standards. As a member of the Quality Management team, you will need to have a growth mindset, promote continuous improvement, and help build a defect-free culture. What You Will Do Provide Quality leadership Act as Senior, Principal Quality Engineer Set priorities and recommend solutions to support production requirements Lead cross functional teams to solve complex quality issues Lead/Support quality initiatives (Built in Quality, Lean, Defect Free, APQPetc) Manage Disposition of non-conforming material through analysis of defects and root cause identification Degree Requirement Degree or equivalent experience desired What Skills You Will Have Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Contributes to short-term operational plans. Communicates key benefits of a quality management process. Conducts and directs quality reviews. Develops expertise in quality assurance tools, techniques, and standards. Develops quality assurance processes based on Six Sigma, CQMS and ISO 9001. Develops programs for motivating employees to meet or exceed quality goals. Collaborating Demonstrates experience engendering collaborative processes that lead to problem solving and the achievement of business goals. Establishes shared goals to foster collaboration. Ensures that everyone can access the same data and provide input into how business is conducted. Redesigns physical areas to allow for collaboration and private time. Deemphasizes divides; focuses on collaboration across generations, functions, regions, and levels. Implements methods for people to come together on the fly to make decisions, solve problems, and develop products/services. Problem Solving Identifies and documents specific problems and resolution alternatives. Examines a specific problem and understands the perspective of each involved stakeholder. Develops alternative techniques for assessing accuracy and relevance of information. Helps to analyze risks and benefits of alternative approaches and obtain decision on resolution. Uses fact-finding techniques and diagnostic tools to identify problems. Top Candidates Will Also Have Experience with Product design and design software, Team Centre or Viz Mockup, for example Hands on experience with Data analysis tools & Powerbi, or similar visualization tools Good human relations skills are needed to develop a cooperative work relationship with others inside and outside the department General understanding of the Caterpillar organization, products, policies, and procedures Understanding of machine system integration including, engine, after treatment, fuel systems, power train and hydraulics Knowledge of manufacturing processes, in process validation, machine testing and product finish standards Ability to diagnose machine faults and manage root cause corrective action activities across the supply base and operations Knowledge of relevant quality concepts, certifications, processes and tools, including FMEA process control, root cause analysis, and corrective actions Experience of lean deployment and built in quality (BIQ) Experience working with the supply base as a Quality Engineer or Product development/New product introduction with APQP experience.
