An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Fylde Coast Rapid Intervention and Treatment Team for Older Adults. We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and compassionate assistant psychologist with a genuine interest in older adult mental health. The team specialises in working with individuals aged 65 and over with severe and enduring mental health problems and people with complex needs associated with dementia of any age.
The position is open to applicants who have an undergraduate psychology degree and can demonstrate the required personal competencies. You will work closely with the team Clinical Psychologist and as part of the wider multidisciplinary team. Your work will include supporting the Clinical Psychologist with assessment, formulation, intervention and consultation as appropriate.
Main duties of the job
There may also be opportunity to contribute to audit and service development. You will work within the policies, procedures and protocols for the service.
You will be linked in with the wider older adult psychology network where there are further opportunities for learning and development.
It is hoped that this post may be extended beyond 12 months, but this cannot be guaranteed.
RITT has 2 core functions: Home Treatment Team (HTT) and Care Home Liaison (CHL). The assistant psychologist will work primarily in the Home Treatment function of RITT.

You will need to demonstrate good verbal and non-verbal communication and show evidence of good listening skills, demonstrating patience and willing to spend time with service users to discuss their care and assist them with their daily needs.

Person Specification
Education/Qualifications
* An upper second class honours degree or higher in psychology or equivalent Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society.
Knowledge
* A good knowledge of lifespan psychology An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with psychological/ mental health difficulties or other disabilities.
* An understanding of the role of the clinical psychologist within a team
Experience
* Contact with people with mental health difficulties and/or other disabilities.
* Experience of work with older people. To have worked as part of a team Experience in conducting research projects or service related audit.
Skills & Abilities
* Good communication skills (written and verbal) including an ability to communicate and work across a number of different settings. Experience using computers for databases or data-analysis. Ability to work with people from different backgrounds and of different ages. An ability to interact effectively with staff from all disciplines. An ability to interact effectively with clients, family members/paid carers. Ability to work reliably and consistently with work agreed and managed at regular intervals.
* Skills or abilities in delivering psychologically informed interventions
