The programme In your first year, you’ll complete an introduction to manufacturing in our new Nuclear Skills Academy. The course will provide you with essential engineering skills in turning, milling, sheet metal and welding. In addition to this, you will start studying towards your BEng degree with the University of Derby, studying modules that will prepare you to start working in industry. From your second year, you’ll continue your degree while completing placements in different areas of our Submarines business. What you’ll do Your placement will see you working across different parts of the engineering lifecycle, giving you the opportunity to work in both engineering and manufacturing as well as in-service environments. These placements will be essential for you to gain a wide breadth of experience and develop your fundamental knowledge of engineering. Once you’ve completed your apprenticeship, you’ll be eligible to apply for professional registration as an Incorporated Engineer (IEng). What you’ll need Five GCSEs at grade 4/C which must include Maths, English Language and Science (double/triple award, Physics or Chemistry). 104 UCAS points (obtained or predicted) from either: Three A Levels at grade BCC to include Maths or Physics. Excludes General Studies. An Engineering-related Level 3 Extended BTEC Diploma. A combination of a BTEC in any subject, plus A Levels which must include Maths or Physics at a grade C. A T Level in an Engineering and Manufacturing discipline (Merit award). For any other equivalent qualifications, please contact us. You’ll be fascinated by nuclear engineering and how the engineering lifecycle comes together to deliver a world-class product. Beyond that, you’ll need to be a logical and analytical thinker – someone with a common-sense approach when it comes to working with data and coming up with solutions to challenges. To work for the Rolls-Royce Submarines business an individual has to hold a Security Check clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you do not currently already have this in place.
