Our client has been established for almost 40 years and are recognised market leaders in the design and development, manufacture and distribution of an impressive portfolio of solutions for supply throughout the world. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth for 2025 and beyond, they are now looking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced Environmental Officer to complement their professional team.
Reporting to the Quality Manager, the successful Environmental Officer will be responsible for cultivating a high-performance culture with a strong focus on Environmental management systems, supporting the business by applying in-depth Environmental and Sustainability knowledge, offering strategic solutions and advice, and employing a variety of tools and methodologies to monitor, analyse and improve the quality of processes and products. This role often involves working cross-functionally to install a culture of continuous improvement throughout the business.
The Environmental Officer will ensure the business has an effective environmental management system that addresses Quality, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental and Wellbeing practices within the operation. You will implement policies and standards, undertake process and system audits, and conduct site visits as required, while maintaining a good understanding of company objectives and striving to meet or exceed KPIs and metrics.
Other responsibilities will include the implementation and maintenance of the company's BS:EN:ISO-9001 quality management system (QMS), BS:EN:ISO14001 environmental management system (EMS), and BS:OHSAS45001 occupational health and safety management system (OHSMS). You will oversee the implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of the company recycling schemes and be tasked with compiling data required for management reviews, implementing agreed actions focusing on continuous improvement of the QMS/EMS and OHSMS, and inspecting and generating QHSE Management reports as required.
To be considered for this varied and challenging Environmental Officer opportunity, you will realistically demonstrate at least 3 years' experience of working in a manufacturing quality environment with exhaustive knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, and QMS systems. Ideally, you will be qualified to degree level or above and hold professional membership of a relevant professional body related to Safety and Environment. A good working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001, along with previous experience of working with copper or aluminium metals, will be distinctly advantageous.
