Are you passionate about process development, continuous improvement, and lean manufacturing? We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Process Engineer with a mechanical/electronics background, to join our instrument manufacturing division, based at our site outside of Cardiff.
As Manufacturing Process Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of production processes for our product range of high-performance laboratory instruments. Your expertise will drive efficiency, safety, and quality across our manufacturing facility.
Salary: £40,000 per annum (depending on level of qualifications and experience), plus benefits.
Responsibilities will include:
* Develop and manage new and existing production cells, equipment, jigs, fixtures, and tools.
* Implement and support process regimes for all products, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
* Lead root cause analysis and implement effective preventative actions.
* Prepare and maintain accurate process documentation, operating instructions, and relevant SOPs.
* Collaborate with global departments and participate in product development and new product introduction (NPI).
* Lead continuous improvement efforts, including Lean Manufacturing, Design for Manufacture, and cost reduction initiatives.
* Oversee new and existing processes, ensuring optimal productivity.
* Introduce process improvements, equipment enhancements, and quality initiatives.
* Provide training to production staff to enhance efficiency and maintain quality standards.
The ideal candidate for this role possesses a combination of technical expertise and relevant experience:
* Formal qualification in an Engineering related discipline (e.g. Mechanical/ Electronics/Manufacturing).
* Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment is essential.
* Exposure to a variety of manufacturing methods, ideally including small batch assembly of precision electronic instruments.
* Proficiency in process engineering principles, including process design, optimisation, and control.
* Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Critical and logical thinking skills and problem-solving skills.
