The Paramedic will act as an autonomous practitioner who is able to work independently and in conjunction with other members of the urgent care team attending to patients. The Paramedic will diagnose and treat patients presenting with illness/injury and will see and advise patients in respect of their continuing medical needs, whether that be at their homes or at the Practice. The post holder will be an experienced caring Paramedic who can demonstrate competent clinical skills whilst working within their professional boundaries. To assess, triage, diagnose and treat patients face to face and via telephone accordingly, performing specialist assessment of their needs and make referrals as necessary to other members of the primary and secondary health care teams. To request diagnostic investigations and interpret within agreed protocols e.g. x-ray, blood tests, scans, etc. To clinically examine and assess patient needs from a physiological and psychological perspective and plan clinical care accordingly, explaining medical problems during surgery consultations. When qualified as an independent prescriber, to review and prescribe medication that is appropriate to patient needs and in accordance with latest evidence-based practice, national and practice protocols and within the scope of qualified practice. To ensure clinical practice is safe and effective and remains within boundaries of competence, and to acknowledge limitations, embarking upon further training if required. To ensure patient confidentiality, respect, and dignity is adhered to at all times.
