To develop chemical processes on the lab scale and assist or take a lead role in the scale up these processes to the plant at both the Middlesbrough and Billingham sites.
To investigate problems with and identify improvements to existing production processes.
This placement starts summer 2025.
Work with the team of development chemists and plant personnel to evaluate, develop and improve plant processes and meet business goals.
Ensure good housekeeping throughout the lab, maintaining high standards of health and safety and participating in lab inspections, safety meetings, and audits.
Carry out analysis on new samples and evaluate the work to be done as required by the customer.
Support chemists to carry out lab scale experiments with the view to scaling up to plant. Follow any lab work by assisting with the writing of development reports, MOCs, and plant trials.
Create reports detailing all experimental work carried out on projects, keeping all relevant parties up to date with ongoing work.
Provide support during new supplier and raw material assessment and approval processes.
Use various suppliers to order equipment and materials for both the R&D laboratory and dispatch.
Required skills:
Expect to achieve a minimum of a 2:1 degree in Chemistry.
