Job Description:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Senior support worker to lead our children's home, providing high-quality care, and ensuring the safety and well-being of the children in our care. As a Senior support worker, you will oversee all aspects of the home’s day-to-day operations, manage a team of staff, and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements. You will also work closely with external agencies, families, and other professionals to deliver the best possible outcomes for the children and young people in our care.
Key Responsibilities:
* Leadership & Management:
Lead and inspire a dedicated team of care staff to deliver outstanding care. Provide guidance, training, and support to ensure the team’s development and well-being.
* Care Standards:
Ensure that all care practices comply with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations, Ofsted requirements, and other relevant legislation.
* Safeguarding:
Promote a culture of safeguarding and ensure all safeguarding procedures are followed to protect the welfare of the children.
* Quality Improvement:
Regularly monitor and review care practices, policies, and procedures to ensure continuous improvement and the best outcomes for children.
* Collaboration:
Work closely with social workers, educational providers, and healthcare professionals to create and implement individual care plans and educational support.
* Record Keeping:
Ensure accurate and up-to-date records are maintained in line with legal and regulatory requirements.
* Budget & Resource Management:
Oversee the allocation and management of resources, including the home’s budget, to ensure the service is efficiently run.
* Parental and External Engagement:
Build and maintain positive relationships with families and external partners to support the children’s needs.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
* Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
* Proven experience in a senior management role within a children’s home or similar care setting.
* Extensive knowledge of safeguarding regulations and best practices.
* Strong leadership skills with a commitment to staff development.
* Experience of managing budgets and resources in a care setting.
* A sound understanding of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations and Ofsted inspection framework.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage children, families, staff, and external agencies.
* Ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions in challenging situations.
Desirable Skills:
* Experience in working with children with complex needs or challenging behaviours.
* A background in educational support or therapeutic care.
* Previous experience working within a regulated setting and managing inspections.
