Main duties of the job As a Maternity Recovery Nurse at St Mary's Hospital, you will be an integral part of the maternity team, providing exceptional care to patients in the recovery area. Your primary responsibilities include assessing care needs, developing, implementing, and evaluating care programmes, and ensuring a safe recovery environment. You will maintain asepsis post-operatively, manage stock levels, and ensure the proper storage of equipment. Your role requires close collaboration with multidisciplinary team members to uphold policies and standards of pre and postoperative care. You will support students and learners, fostering a culture of learning and growth. A key aspect of your role will be to monitor and maintain the safety of the recovery environment, including conducting daily checks on emergency equipment and escalating any issues. Skills and qualities essential for success in this role include excellent clinical judgement, the ability to prioritize and manage workloads efficiently, and a compassionate approach to patient care. You will be responsible for the safe administration of medications and must be knowledgeable about various methods of pain relief.
