Food Stores and Delivery Service Assistant

A leading independent boarding and day school for girls aged 3 - 18 with a co-ed preschool in Winchester, Hampshire. Catering for just over 900 students and teachers daily. Our core feeding offer is breakfast, Mid Morning Snack, Lunch, dinner, Match teas, Hospitality and external lettings throughout the year. This is a 7 days a week operation so shift patterns would usually be 5 over 7 days. This location offers a mix of term time roles along with full 52 weeks contracts. This location benefits from free parking on site.
We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Food Stores and Delivery Service Assistant to join our established & friendly team at our prestigious locations in Winchester.
Role requirements (Task & Responsibilities):
* Effectively manage all stores and ensure timely delivery of food and general supplies to various departments across the location in line with customer orders.
* Receive all deliveries from suppliers and check that goods received are in good condition, maintaining strict control on food, health, and safety critical control points.
* Manage FIFO/stock rotation in line with food safety standards.
* Liaise with suppliers about deliveries and discrepancies in stock.
* Maintain detailed records of shortages and spares of items.
* Keep detailed records of delivery temperatures and storage temperatures of foodstuffs and refrigerated equipment to maintain temperature chain.
* Update inventory management systems regularly with stock counts.
* Organise and deliver goods from the store to the department that requires them, picking all goods in accordance with customer orders and delivering across the location using a food-safe electric vehicle.
* Assist the kitchen brigade in preparing sandwiches for Grab & Go following good hygiene and safety practices.
* Assist with preparing, setting up, serving, clearing, cleaning, and storing away any food, beverage, or equipment required for special functions.
* Restock and replenish stocks and consumables as required, pre-empting customer needs to achieve optimum service delivery.
* Keep the kitchen informed of any food and non-consumable products running low to prevent delays in service.
* Maintain cleanliness in all stores and keep workspaces tidy.
* Operate cleaning/dishwashing equipment and properly clean and store equipment, service, preparation, and storage areas.
* Complete all necessary cleaning and hygiene duties.
* Serve customers, visitors, and guests in line with company and client service standards and expectations.
* Empty, remove, and store rubbish/recycle rubbish appropriately.
* Prepare laundry for collection and put clean laundry away when required.
General Responsibilities:
* Attend all staff meetings as required.
* Adhere to all policies and procedural requirements of both legislation and company to promote a professional and flexible approach.
* Wear the correct uniform neatly and cleanly at all times.
* Carry out all necessary checks in service and associated areas for food temperatures.
* Fulfill all reasonable requests from management.
* Provide cover for other staff during periods of absence as required.
* Be conscientious regarding Health & Safety and report any hazards to the manager.
* Demonstrate team working abilities, listening skills, and the ability to work on own initiative with impeccable personal presentation.
* Possess a Food hygiene certificate (preferred).
* Be adaptable and flexible as necessary. Reliable, honest, and demonstrate an open, attentive approach to customer service.
* Willingness to learn new skills and take responsibility.
* Ability to manage moderately heavy lifting, carrying, and pushing.
* Demonstrate reasonable/good understanding and use of verbal English.
* Demonstrate reasonable/good standard of written English and reading skills.
* Similar experience in a customer and/or food preparation environment is preferred.
